About Terri Wright
As a child, I spent nearly every day after school at the library exploring the world through books. In the fourth grade, I read John Lennon's In His Own Write, a book that defined my love of poetry and short stories and inspired me to pursue English and journalism studies in college.
I started my career as assistant to an award-winning art director in magazine publishing. But it was Noel Young (1922–2002) founder of Capra Press, who tutored me in typography, letterpress printing, book-making skills, and instilled in me the love of making fine books and creating "l'art pour l'art."
“Allowing yourself to pursue creative passions, no matter how deeply buried, is freedom.”
— Kristi Kovalishyn
“Creativity is that marvelous capacity to grasp mutually distinct realities and draw spark from their juxtaposition.”
— Max Ernst
I’ve also had the good fortune to travel the world as a photojournalist and meet people from many places and walks of life. Along these journeys I’ve experienced the humanity we all share and have found voices everywhere with stories waiting to be told.
When I'm not making books, you'll probably find me sailing on the ocean, exploring the Santa Barbara Channel Islands, or playing the Native American flute.
